rainbow slotted scarf

close up of scarf--faux brioche rib stitch

A simple straight scarf with a slot. Knit in faux brioche rib. The stripes were added in because I did not have enough Zelda for an entire scarf. The vertical slot works much better than a horizontal slot in terms of keeping out cold air. Finished January 2003.

Pattern: My own design. Cast on 25 stitches and knit two rows garter stitch. The body of the scarf has a two stitch garter stitch border with faux brioche rib in the center. Odd rows: k2, p1, *k3, p1*, p1, k2. Even rows: k4, *p1, k3*, p1, k4. When the scarf is 18" long, add in a second ball of yarn so that you create a fork in the scarf for the vertical slit. When the slit is 3" long, rejoin the two sides of the slit and continue knitting as a whole piece. Knit 4" more. Last two rows: garter stitch.

Quantity: 1 skein Zelda and small quantity of the Ecru
