Carolyn wearing Bay Beret

You can see some of the sparkles of the lovely Lurex yarn in the photo. I had to make three goes at this beret because of gauge and pattern problems. Wouldn't it be super if patternmakers wrote down the gauge for all aspects of a pattern that uses more than one stitch or needle size? Although the pattern I used had the gauge for the body of the beret, it did not have the gauge for the ribbing...the band ended up a bit small on the second attempt, possibly because I used Kitchener rib on the first four rows. The yarn is a little scratchy so it may be worth using with another kind of yarn in the future or as a trim. Completed July 18, 2002.
