stripey cardigan

This sweater went through a couple iterations. I had knit up the fronts and backs in three flat pieces when I decided the mismatched stripes would drive me nuts. I ripped the pieces and knit the bottom half of the cardigan in one piece, then knit the remainder of the sweater flat. That is why the stripes are mismatched on the top, but perfect at the bottom. That is also why the stripes are bigger on top and on the sleeves than on the bottom half of the sweater. The Kureyon washes up super soft and warm. It is a very cozy sweater, but I am not 100% happy with the buttons bands. The sweater gaps a bit, and I wish the buttons all matched. However, the buttons were cheap, so I can't complain. Completed March 2004.

Pattern: Berroco #219 Basic Classics "Aline" pattern with modifications. I substituted the yarn and made the bottom half of the sweater seamless.

Yarn Brand: Noro Kureyon #40, a wool self-striping yarn.

Quantity: 9 skeins.

Needles: I used needle sizes 1 size smaller than listed in pattern except for the button bands. Sizes 6, 7, 8, and 9.

Notions: 8 - 1" buttons. I used thrift store buttons so I had 5 of one style and 3 of another.

Gauge: 16 st = 4" on size 9 needles
